We appreciate your interest in supporting North Carolina’s medical response to Tropical System Helene.
Your volunteering, especially if you are currently affiliated with one of the Medical Response Corps (MRC) or the Healthcare Preparedness Coalitions, will have a significant impact on our community.
What’s the difference between them:
State Medical Assistance Team – Members are currently affiliated with a provider/agency, such as a physician group, hospital, public health agency, county, and etc.
Medical Reserve Corps – Members are volunteers that are unaffiliated with an employer, but have varying degrees of experience.
Become apart of a State Medical Assistance Team or Medical Reserve Corps, register here: https://terms.ncem.gov/TRS/firstTimeReg.do. Use this map to determine which healthcare coalition you should affiliate with https://hpp.nc.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/HCC-Map-2024-2025-scaled.jpg. Most in southeastern NC should affiliate with the Southeastern Healthcare Preparedness Region.
If you are interested in volunteering to assist in western NC and are a member of one of the above organizations, please complete the registration and vetting process by clicking here.
Once you have completed the vetting process, we will send schedule requests for the missions as we receive them. You may receive multiple requests each day.
If you are looking for other ways of volunteering during this event, please go to https://www.nc.gov/working/volunteer-opportunities/volunteernc.
Thank you
The mission of the Southeastern Healthcare Preparedness Region (SHPR), is to facilitate coordination and cooperation throughout the Southeastern region to ensure partners have the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergent health and medical events.
SHPR facilitates a regional healthcare preparedness program that enables local, regional, and state partners to collectively improve response to and recovery from major emergencies.
Build a sustainable coalition to support the development of a resilient healthcare system that has a strengthened medical surge capacity and capability, and to demonstrate value to our partners through the facilitation of preparedness, communication, and resource sharing.
